Serial killers are the crime phenomenon that never fails to captivate the public’s imagination. For decades, serial murderers were incredibly interesting but also morbid topics for discussion. And most people are equally scared and fascinated by these individuals. Almost all of them were eventually caught and brought to justice, which serves as a reminder that justice can be slow but effective.

However, this list will not discuss their murderous crime careers or numbers of innocent victims taken by the terrible acts of these individuals. Today, you will find out about something totally different. So, keep reading to learn about the top five cars of the world’s most notable serial killers. Some of them may surprise you.

Ted Bundy was one of America’s most frightening serial killers with 36 proven murders. Some crime experts claim he was responsible for over 100 missing person cases, but they never proved that. He started his killing spree in 1974 and they caught him in 1975 after one of his victims managed to escape. After the trial, they executed Ted Bundy.

But the most interesting thing was that he drove a plain old Volkswagen Beetle. It was a common economy car in those days and didn’t raise the suspicion of the authorities. He used his Beetle to lure victims by pretending that he was hurt or having medical problems.

Back in the late ’70s, New York City was a mess. The crime rate was rampant and the mob ruled the city, crime gangs and crack cocaine. But worst of all, a serial killer named the Son of Sam terrified the city. Behind this nickname was David Berkowitz who, in 1976 and 1977, killed six people and attacked seven more. His method was simple. He would shoot people in dark alleys or attack young couples in parked cars.

In the beginning, the police didn’t have a clue who the Son of Sam was and why he did those crimes. But when they caught him, it was revealed he was a mentally unstable person. During his bloody quests deep in the heart of New York City, Berkowitz used his old 1963 Ford Galaxie sedan with a plain exterior. Since the car was dated, it didn’t attract any attention, which helped him hide his crimes for some time.

One of the most recent serial killers is Joel Rifkin who they caught in 1993. His case was interesting since he was a landscaping technician who used his job sites to hide the bodies. So when the police traced his landscape contracts, they had their suspect.

They nabbed him in his 1984 Mazda pickup truck with a dead body in the back. After the apprehension, Rifkin proved cooperative, providing police with the details and maps for all 17 of his victims. Later, they convicted him, sentencing him to 203 years in jail.

2. David “Son of Sam” Berkowitz
