Driving exotic supercars is a dream for many car lovers, and sadly something that’s so expensive that it’s far out of reach for the average person. But could you imagine driving a multimillion-dollar car around?

There have been several very rare limited production cars that cost a pretty penny. The Bugatti comes to mind as does the Ferrari Enzo. What makes these cars unique is not just their price tag but the mystique that came with them. Read on as we take a look at the 50 most expensive cars ever sold.

Bentley was late entering the ultra-expensive SUV race. But when they did, the company offered something powerful and unique. The Bentayga looks the part of a Bentley SUV and performs just as well. Boasting the same performance as the Continential and other well-known models the Bentayga is an exotic car enthusiast’s dream.

Coupled with the upscale interior and the usual Bentley appointments this is a real luxury car. Taking the cue from the Lamborghini, Bentley has incorporated a performance-oriented package that rivals the best exotic cars.

Aston Martin is often overshadowed by the other exotic sports car makers when it comes to brand recognition. But the Rapide S was and still is one of the best rides around. Despite the astounding price tag, the Rapide S had a powerful engine and beautiful looks. From a luxury standpoint, everything is there you’d expect.

Aston Martin didn’t spare any expense when it comes to the design of the Rapide S. This is by far one of the most powerful and luxurious Aston Martins to come out. Few exotics can compete with it on the track or in price.

As far as exotic sports cars go, Lamborghini is at the top of the class. The Huracan 610-4 Coupe is one of the most powerful examples to hit the market. There isn’t a lot of difference in terms of styling but when you get down to the nuts and bolts the car is amazing. Lamborghini spared no expense in designing this car to appeal to a select group.

Although other exotics on the market can rival its speed, there’s just something about driving a Lamborghini. The cars have been a unique staple of opulence and performance for decades.

Mercedes isn’t the first brand that comes to mind for extreme performance, but that’s what you get with the SL65. This super-powered convertible can get to 60MPH in just 3.7 seconds. Notable celebrities that own this car include Diddy and Jay Leno. The overall design of the SL65 is quintessential Mercedes-Benz.

It has a lot of luxury appointments which make living with the car more than bearable. A lot of times you’ll get an exotic car that’s just a pain to live with.

The G-Wagon is one of the most iconic and expensive SUV selections in the world. Mercedes just keeps upping the ante with this one by adding a ton of luxury features to it. But, when it comes right down to it the G-Wagon is a performance car. Hammering the pavement with an intense amount of horsepower that you don’t generally see in something like this.

But don’t mistake the G65 for a pavement princess. The G65 is just as capable as a Jeep when it comes to off-road capability. You’ll be able to take this thing just about anywhere without fail.

The Mercedes AMG line has always been the standard bearer of performance. The S65 Coupe is notable for its sloping design and powerful engine. From a luxury standpoint, the S65 is something that you can’t mistake out on the road. A large interior swaddles the drive in all of the luxuries that you’ve come to expect out of something like this.

The most recent incarnation of the S65 Coupe only added to the luxury specifications. From a design standpoint, this car is the pinnacle of what Mercedes has to offer.

Ferrari comes and goes when it comes to design and implementation. You’ll see them at the forefront of the automotive industry and then nothing. Well, the 488 GTB is back and ready to change the perception of what a Ferrari is.

This exotic is expensive and performs better than a lot of other exotics on the road today. With Ferrari, you have a car that’s designed for the driver’s pleasure. From a performance standpoint, the 488 GTB is unparalleled.

Have you ever seen a twin-turbo V8-powered sports car? Probably not often, but the 720s have a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Packing a tremendous amount of horsepower to the wheels in addition to beautiful styling. The McLaren 720S Coupe will take drivers to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, a truly terrifying amount of speed for the average driver to control.

This is why McLaren continues to be the first name in high-performance exotics. The automaker knows how to create an exotic car that will keep your heart pounding.

Paying homage to the traditional Bentley models of yesteryear the Mulsanne has a familiar style. But that’s only until you get this powerhouse out on the road. The turbocharged 6.75-liter V8 that produces 505 horsepower is one of the best engines around. Its sound design and luxury package only add to the mystique of the model.

From a design standpoint, the Mulsanne is one of the more traditional Bentley models on the market. It features all of the bells and whistles you’d want and then some.

The Ghost has been the standard-bearer for the Rolls-Royce lineup since its debut. The styling of the car and the craftsmanship brought Rolls-Royce into a new level of stardom. Likewise, the Ghost is also a performance powerhouse. With a 6.8 L V12, the Ghost moves with authority and handles just as well.

The luxury aspects of the Rolls-Royce Ghost are what make it a next-level luxury car. Rolls-Royce puts a special level of quality into every vehicle that they build, and the Ghost is evidence of this.

The Berlinetta name might seem familiar to a lot of enthusiasts because of the old Camaro Berlinetta of the eighties. However, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a whole different beast of a car. The V12 6.3 liter is among the best engines in the class and the performance is unmatched for the period.

The F12 has a lot of improvements over the previous Ferrari models. With the refinement of the design and the performance of the V12, you can’t go wrong.

Another interesting exotic that goes back to F1 racing heritage is the SLR McLaren AMG. The McLaren name is often associated with Mercedes and this limited edition model was the pinnacle of that design. With smooth lines and a powerful engine, this is one of the most daunting Mercedes-Benz models on the road.

The razor-sharp styling hits like a dagger and looks familiar to other Benz models from this period. The high price tag means that only the elite can afford to drive this thing, and of course Jay Leno.

Saleen is a well-known performance house in the world of sports cars. You’ve probably seen the Saleen Mustang and F-150, and there are more models than that. The S7 is the first American-built exotic that can rival the best from around the world. With simplistic styling, this sports car still means business.

In fact, in a lot of places, it’s not even legal to drive the S7 on regular roads. The design of the car and the intense speed have made the S7 the stuff of legends in recent years.

Few cars have had the spectacular rise and fall that the Ferrari Enzo did. With a series of high-profile celebrity crashes the Enzo was known for being over the top. The V12 engine is one of the best that Ferrari has ever made. The car was designed after the founder’s namesake and held up to that rarity.

There are few of these on the open market and they tend to fetch a pretty penny when sold at auction. With the intriguing design and history, the Enzo has become permanently cemented in pop culture.

If you’ve never seen the SSC Ultimate Aero you are missing out. The car got the Guinness Book of World Records title for the fastest production car. Aside from that, styling is among the most controversial for the exotic car industry. The SSC Ultimate Aero has polarizing styling and a powerful engine that makes it stand out from the crowd.

Aside from that the SSC Ultimate Aero also has a notable addition of high-quality paint schemes. Few exotics on the market right now look as distinct as the SSC Ultimate Aero does from a design perspective.

Porsche is a company that’s the backbone of the performance car business. Porsche has had its fair share of supercars in the day. The 918 Spyder is most notable for the string of accidents that accompanied it during its initial run. Performance is unmatched and the car is more suitable for F1 racing than actual street duties.

From a styling standpoint, the 918 Spyder is quintessential Porsche. With the familiar front scoop and the body panels to match. When it comes to styling, Porsche stays pretty consistent over the years.

Electric sports cars are starting to prove that they can hold their own on the market. The Rimac Concept One is a stand-out car that offers a unique blend of comfort and styling. This was a concept car and it’s very expensive to get your hands on one.

Reaching 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds ,the Rimac Concept One is no joke. Rivaling even the best exotic cars on the market today, the Rimac concept one shows that electric cars are here to stay.

Aston Martin is not particularly known for its sedans, but the company does build them from time to time. What we have here is a limited production model from 2015 dubbed the Lagonda Taraf. With a limited production run of only 150 cars, the Lagonda Taraf is rare to say the least.

But that doesn’t mean that it should be avoided. Because this is one of the best performance sedans on the market today. And it should be with its high price tag and cultivated styling.

Rolls Royce in general has been on a design marathon since the early 2000s. The Phantom Serenity is the pinnacle of everything that you’d come to expect from Rolls. Its high-class design coupled with the performance that’s truly groundbreaking for a car of this size and magnitude.

Did we mention the fact that it still comes with that expensive umbrella in the door frame? It’s the little features like this that separates Rolls Royce models from everything else on the market.

With a limited production run of 10 cars and the fact it debuted at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, you know that the Lister Knobbly Stirling Moss is quite the rarity on the car circuit. With performance to match, this is a modern-day roadster with classic flare.

From a design standpoint, this car looks like one of those old-school Jaguar models, which might have been what the designers were going for.

Often called a fighter jet on wheels, the Apollo Arrow is a notable exception for the sports car arena. The swift design was extraordinary at the time, coupled with the high performance that the care offered. With a lightweight body and precision design schematics, this is one of the sharpest sports cars on the market.

And of course, there is a high price tag to match, which you’d expect with a car like this. The Apollo Arrow is quite rare in the world of high-performance cars.

From a design standpoint, few cars are as polarizing as the Zenvo TS1 GT. But that’s because the car was designed to intimidate you. With a 5.9-liter flat-plane V8 with 2 centrifugal superchargers, the Zenvo TS1 means business. Likewise, the design of the car is notable for stylistic choices that seem controversial to this day.

The interior is not the most comfortable and a lot of the car is still unrefined. But if you want raw speed and power, the TS1 GT is in a class of its own.

Another new player to the supercar arena is Mazzanti. The familiar automaker has created a few notable exotics in its day, and the Millercavalli is one of them. This particular supercar can be custom-tailored to each buyer’s order. It’s a rather unique option to say the least and something that stands out from the crowd.

Likewise, we have the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 twin-turbo engine that produces 1000 horsepower, a welcome sight to anyone who enjoys power and substance in an exotic car.

The Venom GT is a standard-bearer for what it takes to be a high-performance exotic. The Venom GT has been around for a while now and the car just seems to get better with age. Its raw 2000s styling still holds true to this day and the low production cycle of 29 cars means it’s incredibly hard for drivers to get their hands on one.

It should also be noted that the Venom GT can reach 186 mph in 13.63 seconds. A fast feat for any exotic car, much less a high-performance model like this one.

Another McLaren on this list shouldn’t be a surprise because these are some of the best supercars on the road. The hybrid engine setup is only half of the new tech. There is a host of formula one technology that went into the design of this car. What that means is that the McLaren P1 is perhaps the most advanced exotic yet.

The twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine will propel you to 0-60 in about 2.8 seconds. The styling looks like something out of a movie? The P1 is a superb exotic car with a hefty price tag.

Ferrari is always in some type of supercar development. The LaFerrari is perhaps one of the most iconic recent models. This is known as a hybrid hypercar and only a few of these were built. The LaFerrari was the first in-house design for the company in 40 years and the results were phenomenal.

The 6.3-liter V12 engine has a potent 789 horsepower with an additional boost of 161 horsepower from an electric motor. Not bad for a hybrid.

If you were around in the early 2000s, then you are more than familiar with the Maybach. It was the favorite of rap artists during this period. Already a mini-limousine in its own right, the Landaulet took things to a whole new level. With a luxurious interior and a more than elegant exterior, this car was everything that Maybach represented.

The Landaulet also had several firsts which included a retractable sunroof. From a performance standpoint, this massive sedan could move with authority. This isn’t your mother’s Suburban.

Another hypercar worth noting is the Pagani Huayra. From a design standpoint, it was groundbreaking at the time in 2012 and was even featured in magazines. Performance-wise, the Huayra is one of the fastest supercars around.

You can’t get much better than this as the design of the car is simply beautiful. The twin-turbocharged, 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 720-horsepower is among the best in the class.

It’s not very often that you see a Swedish supercar on the road, but automaker Koenigsegg wants to change that. The Agera S is a beautiful supercar that has a crazy amount of power packed under the hood. Coupled with a beautiful design, this car looks to be carved from the supercar gods.

The twin-turbo, 5.0-liter V8 engine can reach 62 miles per hour in a mere 2.9 seconds. This is a feat that even the fastest sports cars have never matched.

Another interesting model taking things a step further is the Agera R. Everything that made the first model great has been packed into this one. With a seven-speed dual-clutch, the Agera R means business on the track.

Few cars have managed to intimidate the Agera R, and that’s a good thing because this car is downright crazy to look at, much less drive.

What happens when you have an automaker that wants to touch on everything? Well, you get the Aston Martin One 77. This is one of the rarest cars in the world, and not just from a performance aspect. There were only 77 of them built and they’re getting harder to come by. The V12 engine packs 7.3-liters and 750 horsepower.

From a performance standpoint, the One-77 is a monster. But the fact that it’s so rare is also important to note.

Lamborgini has been designing supercars for a while now. The LP 770-4 takes the cake when it comes to a high-end design that can handle business. Performance-wise, the LP-770-4 has one of the most powerful engines in a Lamborghini model.

Coupled with the high-end interior and exterior, you can tell that this car costs a pretty penny. The Centenario is on a long list of Lamborghini models that have pushed the envelope of design. Few exotic cars can compare to the sheer horsepower and speed that the LP 770-4 can deliver.

It should be of no surprise that we find the Koenigsegg Regera on the list. There is just something about this automaker that makes the exotic car market special. With a limited production run of just 80 vehicles, the Regera is deadly fast. Pushing out 1,489 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque to the wheels.

50: Bentley Bentayga – Starting Price: $183,425
