The Ford Mustang<\/a> is one of the most well-known and best-selling sports cars in the world. It was also the car that ignited the entire pony car segment. General Motors created the Camaro<\/a> in direct response to the Mustang and the success it was having. The Mustang has been in continuous production since it first hit the market, whereas Camaro production ceased in 2002 and returned in 2009. The rivalry between the two automotive brands<\/a> has been fierce with both Ford and Chevy guys being extremely loyal to their brands.<\/p>\n

Camaro owners are often very protective of their brand and will defend the car at all costs. But the Mustang also has a lot of great attributes that should be considered by drivers. There have been many different special editions<\/a> and body styles of the Mustang released over the years. With the V8 performance and affordable price tag for most of the generations, the Mustang has endured the test of time. The Camaro Has Been Discontinued Twice<\/h2>\n

The first and most important thing about the Mustang brand has been its pure staying power. Production has remained continuous since 1964, albeit there have been some mistakes along the way like the Pinto-based Mustang II. The Camaro on the other hand was first discontinued in 2002 and now it’s been announced that the Camaro will be discontinued in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Mustang, on the other hand, has never been discontinued and the brand is doing better than ever. With the Coyote V8 engine<\/a> under the hood, the Mustang packs a huge amount of power and a reputation like no other. It Was Almost The Cougar<\/h2>\n

The Mustang was almost named something else entirely, and that was the Cougar. If that nameplate seems familiar it’s because the Mercury variant of the Mustang used that nameplate. The Cougar ended up being a luxury car toward the end of its lifespan, whereas the Mustang stuck to its pony car roots. We’re not sure if the Cougar name would’ve caught on<\/a> as well as the Mustang did.<\/p>\n

Some competitors came along like the Camaro which didn’t have as iconic of a logo. The Camaro has a bold typeface if anything, and the Firebird had the flaming chicken on the hood.<\/p>\n

The Shelby Super Snake sold at auction for over a million dollars<\/a>, therefore making it one of the most expensive Mustang<\/a> sales ever recorded.<\/p>\n
